Core Learning - Culture creates environments for people to change

Q - What is culture?

Simply put - It's how we do what we do.

We all eat dinner, but we all eat it differently. Some around the table, some on the couch, some together and some apart

We create environments for other to experience

An environment reflects our values. The way we express our values in an environment is a culture.

We create what we are, if we are depressed we will bring the whole down… If we passionate we will create passion.

An intentional culture can determine how someone feels and how someone engages with the environment.

Q - What does cultures look like in our church?

McDonald's has a culture, Woolworths has a culture. Their environments are the same in different locations and they work hard at you feeling the same and getting the same experience in each location.

Quote - 'The hallmark of a breakthrough church is that its more committed to reaching lost people than managing fat Christians'

Culture Setters, Culture Carriers

One person can set culture but it will never be established until there are culture carriers.

A culture will only ever be established with people moving together in the same direction. The more people heading into one direction others will follow without understanding why or where they are going.

Does our culture lead people to a better place? Does the culture of a nightclub lead people to a better place?

A culture is either by design or default.

A great culture is created when details are noticed.

Excellence in what we do as leaders and as a church places value on people not property.

1 Timothy 4:12 NIV

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

The way we live creates a culture around us both when we are at Church and when we aren't.

What are the best things about our environment?

What could be better about our environment?

How has our environment impacted you and how does it impact others?

How can we outwork a culture that better reflects our values and how we want people to feel in our environment?
