WHAT TO EXPECT?

We'd love to meet you on a Sunday! You are welcome to explore your faith and grow in your walk with God no matter where you have come from.

There are people at a Sunday who have grown up in Church, people new to Christianity and others who are figuring out what they believe. No matter where you are at or what you believe you can fit right in.

Our hope is that each Sunday people would have a personal experience with the presence of God that would draw them closer to Jesus.

Parking on site, be aware our front carpark can fill up soonest but we still have space for you out the back via the Don Vista Drive entrance where our largest carpark is located.

Sunday services usually goes for about an hour and a half. The two AM services have the same speaker and the after afternoon is different from the mornings.

Families are best suited to our AM services as we have our full kids programs running during both the morning services. We don't have a kids program in the afternoon service but your kids are welcome to sit with you. Our parent's room is available in all our services and is connected to the auditorium so you can be a part of the service while caring for your little ones.

VILLAGE KIDS

At Village Church, we're passionate about supporting families and creating a welcoming community for all ages. We believe it takes a village to raise a child and that's why we have purposefully prepared two special spaces for kids and their parents. Our parents' room is a cosy, comfortable spot where caregivers can relax, feed and change their little one while still engaging with the service. Meanwhile, our Village Kids team are trained and ready to invite your child into our age-appropriate kids experience. Filled with fun activities, lots of energy and a place to learn and grow in faith and character. Our caring leaders are committed to making your family's experience filled with peace and joy. We can’t wait to partner with you in making Village Kids a fun and safe place for your children.

Safety

Our kids team are trained volunteers within the church and if over 16 have all completed national childsafe training, signed a declaration, have a current WWVP check, have up to date references and have completed an induction. We also have junior leaders from time to time in addition to adult leaders. These junior leaders are signed in themselves and hold no responsibility regarding the ultimate safety of the program. Below, you will see some points about what behaviour is expected in our kids space by all adults.

As parents, we want you to feel informed and to know that you can talk to the team about any concerns you may have. We also want you to know that there are safety policies and procedures in place that you can have access to, including a Child Protection Policy and process. For your reference, below is the Safety Pathway that is followed in the case of a safety concern, by team throughout Village. You are also encouraged to follow this process while engaging in Village activities. To send in a safety concern please head to vlg.church/safety

and fill out the form online.

Each term we have a new theme in our kids space that determines the setup of our play

space, our exploring and our activities/games. We will however, always have a

permanent indoor playground set up throughout the year. If your child is in the kids

space with a signed consent form, you have signed that you are happy for your child to

play on this equipment. Please know the equipment has no exposed sides and is

accompanied by foam matting. If you would like your child to not use this equipment, please supervise your child at all times.

FAQ?

Which spaces need my supervision?

When using the parents room, you must supervise your child at all times. However, Village Kids has a sign-in arrangement.

What age can my child attend Village Kids?

Your child is welcome to be signed into Village Kids from age 2 up until, and for the full year of grade 6. If you would like to use the space with a younger child, you are welcome to do so by providing a current WWVP card to the leaders on the day and supervising your child. Please be aware that as the space is designed for 2yrs and up, that there is often lots of noise and movement.

How do I register my child?

We have a once-off consent form for you to fill out for your child/family using this link (FORM HERE). Once you have filled out this information, you can easily sign your child in each week simply by telling the leader your childs name. Please also come and sign your child out at the end of the service so we know they are safety in your care.

What happens at Village Kids?

We love a high-energy morning with lots of laughter, exploring and friendship building. Our kids program is a great way for little people to learn about Jesus but to also have opportunities for character building and friendship making. We usually start with free play, invite the children to sing songs or play a game and often (try to) sit them all down for a story and a chat. We are mindful of all the different ages that take part and try to cater to the majority on the day. We love to do craft and sensory play and have an indoor/outdoor approach as we feel that nature play is vital for children to flourish.

What do I pack for my child? What happens with food?

You are welcome to pack a hat and a lunchbox for your child if you wish. Village Kids does not provide food but if you would like to send along a snack for your child that is fine. We are "allergy aware" meaning we provide a safe and inclusive environment for those with allergies. We invite parents to let us know (via the consent form and on the day) if your child has an allergy and to self-manage with the food you provide. We welcome any information you have on your child's allergy that concerns their time in our care. We do not share food between children.

What if my child needs me for toileting or something else?

Please provide an up to date mobile number when filling out the consent form so the team can notify you if needed. Please also keep your phone handy during the service. You will be notified if your child needs to use the toilet and will be required to come and collect the child to take them to the toilet yourself. We have allocated childrens toilets. If a child is approx 4yrs+ and independently toileting, they are allowed to use the childrens toilet without a parents supervision. A leader will be nearby, but never in the toilet room with a child. If there was an emergency circumstance where a leader had to intervene until a parent arrived, there must be two leaders present at all times. However, this is unlikely to occur.
